MSDhoni: Now told Story

Despite all the work I need to do and the PPTs that I need to make,  I watched the movie, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.  You may question my sincerity here but cricket always triumphs studies, always. So I sat down and started the movie.

The movie starts with the iconic walk in the 2011 World Cup Final, good start, I said to myself. It then jumps to Dhoni’s Childhood. That part of the movie was pretty good except the scenes where they would show Dhoni trying to practice like a sound technical player. Dhoni is not good in purely technical terms and he never was. Every player who makes a name for himself in the world has a lot of people behind him supporting him at every point of his life and Dhoni is no different. The portrayal of his friends, family,  and other acquaintances  was although very good, may not be completely accurate. The scene where Mr. A.K Ganguly compares life with Cricket to impart some wisdom to Dhoni is awesome. The true lovers of cricket will always understand the importance of what was taught to us in that scene. At the point where I am currently in my life with all the Placement stress and all,  that one scene was enough to relieve the pressure for some time. I really liked the fact that when Dhoni understood where they lost the U-19 Match against Yuvraj Singh. Not many people will not understand that and you really need to be into cricket to understand that Matches are not always won on the ground, sometimes off the ground encounters goes a long way in deciding the course of the match.

Next phase is when Dhoni enters Team India. The fact is to be appreciated they did not start this phase with Dhoni’s century, in general movies tend to glorify such parts no matter how far it is from reality. For all those who may have believed it, let me clarify, The Captain does not call you at your Hotel Room to tell you that you are selected in the team, there are team meetings for a reason.

The first time when Priyanka meets Dhoni is just so adorable. She enters the heart of the every viewer with her line, “You know what, You will play and you will have a great game.”

If you didn’t like after that, there is something wrong with you. The Priyanka character is sweet, adorable and a pleasant surprise as I did not know that part of Dhoni’s life. “Kaun Tujhe” is one of the sweetest songs I have heard this year, but how messed up you have to be to kill such a sweet character in the middle of the song and then they continue with the song. I generally don’t like when the characters I like die but killing her in the middle os the song was much much worse. Not Cool, Neeraj Pandey, Not Cool.

I am really glad that they did not show giving last over to Joginder Sharma as some genius move by Dhoni, if they had I would have stopped watching it precisely at that moment. Another disappointment when they showed CB Series final and they conveniently left out the contribution of everyone including Sachin’s vital Innings and showed only shots of Dhoni, I mean I understand it is his movie but to portray it like he won the match for us was totally out of line. I am refraining myself  from commenting on Dhoni’s decision to show the way out to three important players as that is too controversial and I am not about to write three paragraphs here about why that was an egoistic and nowhere near a Genius move.

No matter how many times I watch the world cup final I still cheer like I am watching it for the first time. It just can not be helped.

I may not like Dhoni, but I really liked the movie so I would recommend the movie to everyone who hasn’t watched this although I am pretty late to the party and I am sure most people have watched this.

Leaving you with this beautiful song, see you next time.

19.What do you consider your greatest achievement?

What's your answer to Proust's Questionnaire?

Virat Kohli: The man who can do no wrong

If you have followed Indian cricket a little bit or even if you don’t follow and just have heard about it from your friends you would know that there is one player who has been played inhumane cricket since the beginning of the year.

Yes you guessed it right,I am talking about the most popular cricketer of India at present i.e.  Virat Kohli. I have to admit I was never a fan of Kohli, infact I always thought if Rohit Sharma just become a little more consistent he is a far better and destructive batsman. But this man in just few months changed my mind. Now I have no problem saying it,He is the best batsman of the world right now and no matter if this form of his continues or not,he has played so well that this season of his will go down in the history as one of the best season of any batsmen.

Name: Virat Kohli

Year: 2016

Matches: 26(25 Innings-T20)

Run: 1490

Average: 99.33

Yes you read it right,an average of almost 100 in T20s,other than the fact that this sort of average is  not at all easy to achieve even in Tests, this is also  awesome because this shows that the guy just never gets out,he wins matches by himself,he finishes the innings,he does not leave it to others, that is the quality that made me his fan.And don’t think for a second that he may be playing slow or something, his strike rate is close to 150,yes 150 is higher than Dhoni,Raina and some other players who some of my friends consider the best finishers.

I think you all will agree with me on this that he singlehandedly took India to the semis of the world cup and with a little help from ABD he was responsible for RCB jumping from the 6th position to 2nd position and the team which wasn’t sure to reach the knockouts and now they are in a position where they can afford to lose a match although I am sure Kohli is no mood of losing.

If you want to experience what kind of player he is,just look into his eyes when he is on the field, you will see the intensity, determination and the zeal to win. Kohli may be seen as a aggressive player, maybe little more aggressive than Sourav Ganguly but the way he has channeled  his aggression into his play is highly commendable. The best thing about Kohli is he is never afraid to take on a challenge, the difficult the situation, better he is.It seems like his performance is directly proportional to the pressure on him or his team.

When I am praising him so much,I have to include something about his cover drives,I mean it’s not possible to not mention those drives and inside-outs which make you jump. I would go ahead and say that at the moment he is the best driver in the business and Cricket has never seen such cover drives from any other player other than the God.

It is obvious that he won’t be in the same form forever but he has already scored runs that other players dream to score in the whole year,he has done it in four months,I am pretty sure he will break the record of breaking most number of records in a year.Hopefully he will keep playing like this for as long as possible and India will surely ride on his shoulders.Right now every single individual in the country loves Kohli except RCB cheerleaders, they obviously hate him for obvious reasons,Some of them might sue him as he is making them work more than what they are paid for.

Now before I say anything this post is not meant to disrespect anyone of my fellow students,I  know how much hard work everyone is doing so please don’t be offended by this post.I am writing this post in response to the violence in  one of the most prominent cities in my Home state Haryana.

Reservation,I think this word has caused more trouble than help in the past few years.

How stupid do you have to be to burn your own home.I mean these people have surpassed all levels of insanity,if I try to breakdown their thinking and I am just guessing this is how they think “We are asking for something we deserve and going to any lengths to get what we deserve is perfectly ok”. So let me just ask if you are getting reservation so that your children can get a seat in college, what is the point of it if you burn down the college. So you want jobs but you are burning all the offices so where do you suppose you will get jobs, rebuilding them???  These people even burnt the ambulances which were taking the injured to the hospital,I mean there has to be some limit right??? No these people know no limits and even now they must be thinking what they did was perfectly justified as they were fighting for their rights.

Yeah now let me talk about the actual people which was responsible for this, now I know the entire Jaat community was not involved in this and there are always some elements in the society which you can not control but still this community 20 years ago was fighting for equal status with the Brahmins and the Baniyas and now they are fighting for reservation, they are contradicting themselves  without even realizing it.This community is according to stats is the richest in Haryana with largest share of land and wealth of the state. They have more population than any other community which ensures more participation in the political matters of the State.Every decision that is taken by the government  involves consideration from their representatives. This is like people with the biggest house in the city asking the government to provide them free homes because they are less privileged. And they are so corrupted in mind that they think they have to show their power to get reservation, now who is to tell them that Reservation was meant to be for the people who didn’t have power like they do and don’t have resources ,like they do.No, they just want it because pretty much everyone else has got it,In Haryana the current reservation in jobs and education is around 60%,it was 70% at one time.I have personally known people who couldn’t get in the prestigious medical and engineering colleges in Haryana despite having double the score  of their friends in other categories. Now I am not blaming people for using reservation, ofcourse if you are getting the advantage not using it is again stupidity but burning people’s homes and shops just for the sake of it,how justified is that. Not many people realize this but there were people whose single source of  income was their shops or restaurants which are now burnt.Analyst are telling that Rohtak has gone back 20 years,so much for being integral part of development.

20000 crores lost in 7 days, not a single one of those protesters or even combined all of them have the  ability to return that money in their entire lifetime no matter how much reservation they get.Actually whole reservation policy is flawed,no matter how much we argue we know that undeserving people who don’t need any favors are using it and the needy people who are actually short on resources and exposure can not use it because well you are in General category, sorry.Political parties know this general public knows this, pretty much every  person in this democracy know that the current policy is complete bullshit but no one has the guts to raise voice against it.Political parties ofcourse have to take care of their votebanks, general category  people know this so they just want to avoid any troubles and they just ask their children to study harder,”beta koi bat nhi or mehnet krke or number le aa taki ye reservation ka cover ho jaye.”

Please don’t take this post as an insult to anyone until unless you are one of those airheads who are proud of burning your own city, this post is definitely meant to insult you.Hopefully since these people have got what they wanted they will send their children to schools where they will actually learn something and we won’t have to see such shameful and heart rending incident ever again.

Its Over….

A big thud woke me up.Surrounded by a lot of people, lying, don’t remember the the place. One person who looked like a very kind person came to me and said,”It’s Over Son”.I was like, what???What is over? I tried to stand,it was painful but I did manage to stand.I asked him again,”What’s Over?”

His reply made me shiver,I had the same feeling when something gets stuck in your throat and you can’t get it out.He said “Your Life is over, your time is over”.I calmed myself(actually just gathered the strength to speak),”What are you saying,What is this place,I was just going to my class. I am just 20 years old,I haven’t even graduated.”

“20 years is a long time isn’t it,even the projects of Government don’t take that much time, why do you want more?”

“What do you mean why,My life was just starting,I would have graduated in a year and a half, that’s where my life would have actually started, all I did upto now is study,I never got a chance to live my life did I?”

“What would you have done after you graduated, you would have got a job, earned money and then have a family and then retire in another 20 years,we thought someone else would make a much better use of those 20 years.”

“I am an IITian,I would have certainly made a better use of my time, how can you decide my entire life.I would have done something meaningful.”

“IITian, hahahaha,I am sick of hearing those words, even you know in your heart that those words mean nothing, what did you learn you in IIT.If you ask me I liked you better when you were in school,You were cheerful, passionate, energetic and you looked like this person would do something great, then you went to that place, what do they say, yeah factory where doctors and engineers are produced ,Kota. You didn’t smile, you didn’t look up,always in the books, even then I thought that atleast you are on a mission and you are determined but now look at you.Living incomprehensibly, you look like a lonely sad person walking on a road which leads to nowhere, infact you should thank me,I just did you a favor.”

For a moment I froze,I did not know what to say,my hands were shaking, afterall deep down I knew whatever he was saying was correct.

They say you are what  you are,but you don’t have to be.This line from the song “Immortals” crossed my mind.Maybe I did miss out, maybe I did become someone unworthy of this beautiful gift called Life.

“What are you thinking ,now is not the time to think, its time for you to let go,accept your fate,be happy.”

“Be happy, how can you expect me to be happy when I was ripped off my dreams. And what about the people who loved me,My family.”

“Dreams,no,you had no dreams and even if there were they were not worthy. As far your family is concerned they will mourn,I know but after some weeks or maybe months they will get on with life. You see my son,you made a fatal mistake, you didn’t realize the power of time,Time will take care of your family, you don’t need to worry about them.”

I was on my knees, the truth sunk in,I realized nothing can be done now,This is it.Tears came in my eyes as some beautiful memories and some not so good memories rushed through my mind.My father complaining about my writing and being rescued by my loving mother and then constant bickering with my sister. That broken hand in a fight, that scary tall person coming to me to say “Well Played”,I smiled.

I stood up,accepted my fate “So,what now?”

“Now you will be taken to the court, your complete life will be reviewed, you will have to pass the interview taken by the court panel to get a seat at heaven. Here is a helping book,I suggest you start reading it if you want to clear that interview.”

Gave me a book titled “Going to Heaven,Made Easy”.

I smiled, gave the book back to him,”I don’t need it now, this time I will follow my heart, don’t really care about heaven or hell.I literally spent my entire life studying. Not anymore.”

A bold voice came from behind “Mr. Sam,you are wanted inside.”

I bid goodbye to the Death God and made my way towards the court.

“It’s Over”,I said with a smile. He nodded with a smile as I made my way towards the court.

“It’s Over.”

PS: This is some random person Sam so please don’t associate whatever is said above to my life or anyone else’s life.I am still alive because ghosts don’t write blogs, remember.

Artificial Intelligence-Glimpse of Future

Artificial Intelligence plays a bigger role in our lives than many of us realize. Navigation systems in cars,Credit Card Authorization system, Personal Assistant on our smartphones and PCs, all are example of AI.AI is based on the notion that knowledge and thoughts can be represented and manipulated through computer algorithms. In the recent times AI has become more popular with the insurgence of “Siri” or “Cortana”,the famous personal assistants on the smartphones courtesy of Apple and Microsoft respectively. The ability of these PAs to understand not just the human language but the feelings hidden among the words has brought a new glimpse of future. Another exciting quality these assistants have is their thought process that you feel like you are talking to a human being not a computer. In fact in a few years we will start taking this incredible advancement of technology for granted.

Most artificial intelligence experts now take it as a given that AI will play a much greater role in our lives in the future, with predictions of increasingly sophisticated, autonomous robots that will reduce life’s drudgery and interact with us in a more user-friendly way. But it’s still a long way to go as even if we can completely mimic a human brain it might be still be possible that it may not be as smart way to think.AI is exciting ,thrilling for some people even scary but one thing is for sure, we are in for some surprises in the near future and one such early surprise is Niki, Niki is the first AI-fueled smart-purchasing assistant in the entire world, with the aim to both revolutionize customer interaction and redefine the buying experience as a whole. We use e-commerce a lot infact it’s the fastest growing sector in the world. But it’s confusing and exhausting to go through so many products and then select one and pay for it. Wouldn’t it be cool if someone or something can do that for us. Well the wait is over because that’s exactly what Niki is here to do.  Niki is designed to understand advanced communication and simple text-speak, adapting to every user’s preferences and creating the ideal AI-to-human interaction. Just think of her as your best friend willing to take off all your tensions.Well with the advancements in AI, especially Niki we can now safely say “You are not alone anymore”.

6 Reasons for India’s Downthrow In Bangladesh

  1.  India has been relying on their top three too much, all her victories in the recent years have come when the top three has performed(atleast one of them plays a long innings),but this time In the 2 matches they have together scored 170 runs, pathetic, right? And we never expected anything from the lower order, did we???Of course not that would be stupid.
  2.  Virat Kohli,a year back people were so obsessed with him that they start calling him the best player of the world. But ever since the England tour he has been off and on and recently have been  completely disappointing.Great players have always one thing in common, they learn from their mistakes,You do see where I am going with this right? To add to this his aggression, everybody was saying that sooner or later his aggression will be used against him but he never learnt.I am not saying aggression is bad,but aggression without performance sound like ego(way too much).Hopefully he will learn soon because if he doesn’t Indian cricket is in trouble, deep deep trouble.
  3.  MUSTAFIZUR RAHMAN: This man literally humiliated the Indian Batting, with 11 wickets in 2 matches he broke the backbone of Indian batting. For me he was the biggest reason for India’s loss.A new bowler from Bangladesh, totally underestimated by the Indians,he taught them the most basic lesson of cricket,NEVER UNDERESTIMATE YOUR OPPONENT.No fear,Pace,Aggression, sledging, everything a good fast bowler need to have.Well Played!!!
  4.  Ravindra Jadeja: I don’t even know why he is in the team.Earlier I used to joke about this but now I am seriously thinking that being CSK player is good enough to be in Indian national team,if not that then just continue to be a friend of captain and no matter how useless you are for the team you will get a place.
  5.  Indian Bowling:Not taking any credit away from the Bangladesh batting,I think they batted extremely well like matured players but still Indian Bowling was too ordinary. B. kumar has not been reliable in this series,he was so good in the IPL,I don’t know what happened to him.He lost the battle with his counterpart, quiet badly I would say and that put a dent in the entire team’s confidence. He was good in the first match but completely disappointing in the second.I am not saying he bowled very poorly,I am just saying he was supposed to bowl like the lead bowler and he didn’t. Umesh Yadav and Dhawal kulkarni were both disappointing.Same is the case with other bowlers.
  6.  Change,Sometimes you don’t need to:After the loss in the  first match the team management was so panicked they made some horrible changes or I don’t know their stupid rotation policy was put in effect. How can you keep the only consistent player of your team on the bench, makes no sense at all.Why changing the batting order so much,it was not required but hey,I am not the wonder Captain.

As an Indian fan it hurts to see the world semi-finalist to lose to a much weaker team(who played excellent cricket btw,not taking any credit away) without even a fight. And Yes I am not going to criticize Dhoni here(I did a little,no),Sometimes your team plays so badly as a Captain you just can’t do anything.

Hopefully India will recover soon from this downfall and will start giving the fans something to cheer upon.
